Baseball Concludes Season in Region X Tournament

The Bulldogs concluded a 30 win season this past weekend after falling to CVCC in an elimination game at the Region X Tournament in Burlington, NC.  PCC defeated Southeastern in game 1 before losing to the eventual champion Brunswick in game 2.  They then defeated Bryant & Stratton to stay alive before suffering a season ending defeat at the hands of Catawba Valley.

GAME 1

PITT 11 SCC 1

Starter Andrew Blake went the distance in game 1 on the mound, striking out 11 in the winning effort.  The Bulldogs had several players with multiple hits, and the offensive output was capped off when Patrick Wheeler and Joe Mason blasted back to back home runs to end the game after 5 innings due to run rule.

GAME 2

BRUNSWICK 11 PITT 7

Pitt couldn't overcome an early deficit in game 2 of the tournament.  The Bulldogs trailed 11-2 before rallying to make the score 11-7.  Unfortunately it was too little too late as the Dolphins would come away with the victory, sending PCC to the loser's bracket.

GAME 3

PITT 10 BRYANT & STRATTON 2

Sophomore starter Jake Isbell earned the win on the mound as the Bulldogs cruised to a 10-2 victory.  Patrick Wheeler, Joe Mason, Drew Piscorik, and Mason Pickard all recorded multiple hits for Pitt.

GAME 4

CATAWBA VALLEY 10 PITT 1

The Bulldogs were unable to generate any momentum in their fourth and final game of the tournament.  Starter John Owen was chased from the game after the 3rd inning, allowing 5 runs.  The CVCC offensive attack continued as they racked up 10 runs on 14 hits in the game.  Pitt struggled at the plate, only gathering 7 hits in the contest.
