Baseball splits with Catawba Valley

Pitt traveled to Hickory this weekend to take on The Red Hawks of Catawba Valley.  Saturday's game was cancelled due to inclement weather, and the two teams played a double header on Sunday.

Game 1   PITT 10  CVCC  4

Andrew Blake took the mound in game one and gave an outstanding performance, pitching 6 innings and allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 7.  John Owen earned the save in relief allowing 2 runs over 3 innings.  The Bulldogs capitalized on a Joe Mason home run and a 2 out single by Trevor Losito to take a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning.  Pitt wouldn't score again until the 8th when Logan Welch homered followed by a second Joe Mason home run that put the game out of reach.

Game 2  PITT 4  CVCC  9

The Bulldog offense was stalled thanks to a great pitching performance from CVCC starter Harry Hatcher.  Hatcher held PCC scoreless until the 7th inning, when a late Bulldog rally came up short.  CVCC Jumped out to a 4-0 lead early and never looked back defeating the Bulldogs 9-4.

Pitt is back in action at home against Paul D. Camp Tuesday, March 26th at 4:00.
