Baseball wins 3 out of 4 against Queens University

Pitt was able to win 3 out of 4 contests this weekend against NCAA Division II opponent Queens University of Charlotte.

GAME 1:  PITT 8 QUEENS 3

Dylan Patrick turned in a strong pitching performance in game 1, going 5 innings and earning the win.  Jake Isbell earned the two inning save out of the bullpen.  Offensively the Bulldogs were lead by Joe Mason (3-4 with 2 doubles) and Reese Farmer (2 for 3 with a HR).

GAME 2:  PITT 13 QUEENS 12

In game 2 of the series, the Bulldogs used a 16 hit offensive attack to overcome an early 10-3 deficit that saw Queens record two grand slams in the same inning.  Mikey Polansky had a breakout game going 4 for 5 with 2 HR's and 6 RBI's.  Polansky also recorded the game winning walk off hit in the 7th to propel the Bulldogs to victory.

GAME 3:  PITT 8 QUEENS 7

Trevor Losito provided PCC with a huge charge in game 3 of the series, blasting a 3 run HR in the second inning.  Pitt was able to hold off a strong offensive attack by Queens, thanks in part by the efforts of starter John Owen who worked 4.2 innings for the no decision.  7 different Bulldogs collected hits in the game, and Jake Isbell earned the win on the mound pitching the last two innings of the game.  Pitt was able to collect another walkoff win on a bases loaded passed ball in the seventh.

GAME 4:  PITT 10 QUEENS 15

Game 4 saw both offenses light up the scoreboard early and often.  Queens came out on the winning end of a contest that saw 25 total runs scored and 28 total hits collected.  Trevor Losito and Garrett Tyndall both collected two hits a piece for the Bulldogs.  Starting pitcher Mason Medlin was chased from the game in the 4th inning, and pitchers Byron Belcher, Jake Thomas, and Kyle Davis all had appearances.

Pitt takes on Florence-Darlington next weekend on the road.
