SOFTBALL GOES 2-1 IN SEASON OPENING TOURNEY

Pitt traveled to Louisburg over the weekend to compete in a season opening tournament in which they played 3 games in one day.

Game 1 – PCC 5 Mercyhurst North East 4

The Bulldogs took the game in dramatic fashion thanks to a walk-off single to topple Mercyhurst North East. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Abbi Carpenter singled, scoring one run. The bulldogs notched three runs in the sixth inning. Kaitlyn Kostrzebski, Alexis Phillips, and Summer Campbell recorded RBI's in the frame. Bekah Williams was on the rubber for the Bulldogs. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out nine and walking zero. PCC collected ten hits on the day. Marissa Roach, Carpenter, and Kasey West each racked up two hits to lead the Bulldogs.

Game 2 – PCC 15 Catawba Valley 7

PCC took an early 8-0 lead in the first inning after Marissa Roach hit a 3 run homerun that was followed by an Alexis Phillips grand slam. Amaya Cerutti started on the mound lasting 3 innings allowing 7 hits and 7 runs. Karley Hughes stepped into the circle to earn the save for the bulldogs pitching 2 innings, only giving up 1 hit while striking out three. In the 5th inning, Kaitlyn Kostrzebski hit a 3 run homer that was followed by Kasey West’s 2 run homer in the 6th. Phillips lead the bulldogs with 3 hits along with 5 RBI’s. Kostrzebski, West, Campbell, and Roach all tallied 2 hits apiece.

Game 3 – PCC 5 CCBC Catonsville 6

A walk off single left the Bulldogs on the wrong end of a 6-5 loss to CCBC Catonsville. The bulldogs opened up scoring in the second inning when Abby Pippin drove in one when she doubled. Bekah Williams was in the circle and surrendered six runs on nine hits over 5 innings, striking out three and walking zero. PCC tallied 9 hits. Marissa Roach and LeAnn Pittman each collected two hits to lead the team.

Pitt takes on Caldwell County this Friday at home.  First Pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
