The PCC softball team split with Florence-Darlington and Surry to come away 2-2 on the weekend. They lost to the Stingers 10-9 in extra innings before winning 6-5 in game two. Pitt then traveled to Surry where they would fall victim to an 18-0 defeat before returning the favor by way of a 16-0 victory.
The Bulldogs are now 25-10 and 14-7 in the conference.
GAME 1
FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 10 PITT 9
Game 1 of this series was a back and forth battle that eventually saw the Stingers walk away with the extra inning victory. FDTC struck 1st plating 2 runs in the 1st inning before Pitt added a run of their own in the 4th. The Bulldogs then exploded for 8 runs in the 6th, only to have the Stingers plate 6 runs of their own in the 7th, tying the game at 9 a piece. Florence Darlington eventually pushed a run across in the 10th to earn the 10-9 victory. Taylor Carroll led the way offensively going 4-6 on the day. Bethany Locklear took the loss on the mound.
GAME 2
PITT 6 FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 5
The second game of the series proved to be as entertaining as the first. Florence-Darlington scored three runs in the first before PCC answered with 5 first inning runs of their own. FDTC scored 2 in the second inning to tie the game at 5 before Pitt pushed across a run in the 6th and were able to hold the Stinger offense in the 7th to earn a 6-5 victory. Stephanie Villalovos notched the complete game victory on the mound, and Julia Gonzalez recorded 3 RBI'S to lead the offensive attack.
GAME 1
SURRY 18 PITT 0
Game 1 on Sunday proved to be a frustrating one for the Bulldogs. Pitt couldn't overcome Surry's 11 first inning runs. The offense was unable to get anything going as Surry continued the attack eventually winning 18-0. Allie Phillips took the loss on the mound and Julia Gonzalez was the bright spot offensively going 2-2.
GAME 2
PITT 16 SURRY 0
The second game of the day turned out to be the complete opposite of game 1. The Bulldogs came out looking to gain the momentum early and did exactly that. Pitt pounded out 17 hits in a game that saw every Bulldog batter record at least one hit. Stephanie Villalovos was outstanding on the mound, tossing a complete game 1-hitter.
