Softball Splits With Louisburg

WINTERVILLE, NC - Pitt hosted former conference rival Louisburg Tuesday night and in game 1 grabbed an early lead on its way to a 6-3 victory. Things started off quickly when PCC scored on a home run by Taylor Carroll in the first at-bat of the bottom of the first inning. Erin McDonald followed that up with a home run of her own in the sixth.

Allie Phillips earned the win on the mound for Pitt. She threw two innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking one. English Dean recorded the last 15 outs to earn the save for the Bulldogs.

PCC outhit Louisburg 9 to 8.Erin McDonald had an impressive showing at the plate going 3 for 3. Also, sophomore Haley Wright had a multi-hit game going 2 for 3 at the plate.

Game 2 PCC struggled offensively and on the mound giving up 16 hits in 5 innings of play. The Bulldogs showed signs of life in the bottom of the 5th inning when they strung together a run off of 4 hits but it was too little too late. Freshmen Anna Craft and Megan Latsko led the team in hits with 2 each. Summer Prevatte, Erin McDonald and Haley Wright each had one a piece.

Pitt returns to play at Louisburg Friday, February 24 at 4pm.
