Softball Drops Two at Louisburg

GAME 1

LOUISBURG 4 PITT 3

Pitt out-hit Louisburg College eight to three, but it wasn't enough in a 4-3 loss on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning when Taylor Carroll singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Louisburg College took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Sara Siwinski homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Stephanie Villalovos took the loss for Pitt Community College. She surrendered three runs on two hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Bethany Locklear came in relief in the bottom of the 5th.  She allowed no runs and no hits and struck out 2.

Morgan Shirley and Carroll each collected two hits to lead the offense.

GAME 2

LOUISBURG 10 PITT 6

It was a tough up-hill battle after the bottom of the 1st when Louisburg College took the lead on a grand slam.

Pitt Community College put up three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Jessica D'Elia and Morgan Shirley.

Allie Phillips took the loss. She surrendered nine runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out three. Bethany Locklear came in relief in the bottom of the 6th inning giving up 2 hits, 1 run and 1 walk.

Taylor Carroll led PCC at the plate going 3-4.

“Both games were well fought for the most part. I was extremely proud in game 2 how we played scrappy and kept putting runs on the board throughout the game.  Also defensively the plays Morgan made in the outfield were huge and kept us in the ball game.  Bethany Locklear also did a fine job coming in a being effective for us in both games.” - HC Jennie Harp

Pitt returns home to face Florence-Darlington Tech on Friday at 3pm and 5pm.
