Game 1 recap:

Despite having a week off and playing in extremely cold conditions, the bats stayed hot for the Bulldogs scoring immediately in the bottom of the 1st inning with a homerun from sophomore, Peyton Taylor. She scored Taylor Carroll who reached base on a double to left field, and Erin McDonald who reached base on a HBP.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning the runs continued as lead-off batter, Taylor Niemotka singled on a ground ball that cut through the 5-6 hole. She would later score on a fielders choice ground ball by Megan Latsko. With bases loaded Peyton Taylor would again go yard for a grand slam on a 3-1 count making the score 8-0. 3rd baseman Caroline Dorman would hit a line drive RBI single to center field and later score on a passed ball by PHCC?s catcher.

Going into the bottom of the 3rd inning with a lead of 10-0 the Bulldogs continued to pound away pushing 4 runs across. Brianna Williams went in to bat and hit a 2RBI single to left field. Taylor Niemotka at the plate smacked a line drive double to left field scoring 2 more runs to make it 14-0.

The bottom of the 4th would be capped off by two more runs on a ROE by Brianna Williams scoring 1 run and again on a ground ball single by pinch hitter Natasha Stephenson to score Rebecca Walker who reached base on a walk earlier in the inning.

Peyton Taylor pitched the complete 5-inning game, allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run which was allowed in the top of the 4th inning. Working 22 batters she held them to a .118 batting average. Defense was solid behind her taking care of 5 groundouts and 6 fly outs in the game.

Game 2 recap:

Game 2 was almost a direct replay of game 1. Allie Phillips on the mound held her ground only allowing 2 hits and earning herself the shutout on the day while striking out 4 PH batters.

The bats came alive with a leadoff solo homerun by Taylor Carroll, her 2nd time hitting a leadoff homerun of the season. Erin McDonald would follow suit with a solo homerun herself to push the lead going into the top of the 2nd inning to 2-0.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning Niemotka led off with a fly ball to right-center for a single. Anna Craft would hit a ground ball up the middle for another single putting Taylor Carroll back at the plate. With 1 runner on, she would crush another homerun on a 3-1 count to make the score 4-0.

After a quiet 3rd inning the Bulldogs would light up in the bottom of the 4th to push 10 runs across with a leadoff bunt single by Craft that quickly turned disastrous as the Patriots had a throwing error that turned the single into a homerun. Rebecca Walker would make the most out of her at-bat reaching on base on a dropped third strike and later scoring on McDonald?s shallow fly ball to center field. With bases loaded Allie Phillips would beat out a ground ball to the 2nd baseman scoring McDonald making the score 8-0. Taylor Niemotka would make it 9-0 after hitting an RBI single to center field and Craft would make it to the plate again this time to stroke a 2RBI double to the left fielder. Taylor Carroll would almost go yard for the 3rd time of the game but settled for a 2RBI double as the ball hit the fence staying in play. The last run of the game would be on Peyton Taylor?s RBI sac fly to center field.

The Bulldogs go on the road this weekend to travel and play against Florence-Darlington Tech on Saturday, and then against Southeastern CC in Whiteville, NC on Sunday.
