GAME 1
PITT 2 SOUTHEASTERN 0
Stephanie Villalovos shut down Southeastern CC, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Pitt Community College to a 2-0 victory. She struck out 7 of their batters and only allowed 2 hits.
Pitt was led offensively by Morgan Shirley who had 2 of the Bulldogs 4 hits. The Bulldogs hit the ball solid throughout the game, but couldn’t get anything to drop in until the bottom of the 6th inning.
Julia Gonzalez scored the first run of the game after a controversial call in the field. With 2 outs and bases loaded, Taylor Carroll took a hit by pitch to walk in a run. Roslyn Bunch then singled on a hard ground ball to center field scoring Morgan Shirley who had singled earlier in the inning.
Going into the top of the 7th inning the Bulldogs were able to get out of a 2-out bases loaded situation and earn the win.
GAME 2
PITT 9 SOUTHEASTERN 1
Southeastern managed to get on the board in the top of the 1st inning after the leadoff batter who reached by HBP and scored on a sac fly to left field.
Pitt put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to answer back. Taylor Carroll led off the inning with a double over the left-fielders head and an RBI single by Roslyn Bunch tied the game a 1-1. Breanna Hardee doubled behind her on another hit over the left-fielders’ head to put runners on 1st/3rd with no outs. Julia Gonzalez kept momentum going by doubling to center field scoring 1 run. The inning was capped off by a deep sac fly by Meghan Moore scoring Meghan Pullicino from 3rd base.
The bottom of the 3rd inning was started by Stephanie Villalovos and Kelsey Peedin with 2 back to back singles. Taylor Carroll took a ball deep over the left field fence for a 3-run homerun to put the Bulldogs up 6-1.
In the bottom of the 5th inning the Bulldogs managed to win by a run rule victory on a Meghan Pullicino 2-RBI double.
Allie Phillips took the win in the circle. She pitched all 5 innings giving up just 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and striking out 2.
“Our Pitchers and hitters did their jobs today; we got back in our groove hitting and it was the difference in both games. Even in the first game despite only getting 4 hits we hit the ball for hard line drives and I’m glad our hitters kept trusting the process. Our lineup was very tough to go against top to bottom. We were patient at the plate and really battled with 2 strikes. Meghan Moore, Roslyn Bunch, Taylor Carroll and Julia Gonzalez all hit .500 or above on the day and having that type of production throughout your lineup is hard to compete with."
