LATE COMEBACK LIFTS BULLDOGS TO OPENING ROUND WIN

PITT 80 LOUISBURG 74

The Bulldogs met the Hurricanes of Louisburg for the 3rd time this season on Thursday night in the opening round of the Region X Tournament in Raleigh, NC.  Pitt won both regular season meetings by scores of 90-82 and 92-82.  Nothing would change in round 3 of the series as the Bulldogs walked away with an 80-74 victory.

Trailing 42-30 at the half, the Bulldogs needed a spark.  "I told our team we need to get back to doing what we do and I challenged our guys to pick up the defensive intensity.  We hang our hats on rebounding, defense, and execution and we won the battle in those areas in the second half" - HC Darrick Mullins.

The Bulldogs chipped away at the lead throughout the second half before eventually taking the lead at the 4:00 mark.  Louisburg battled back but Pitt was able to withstand the rally en route to an 80-74 victory.

PCC (23-7) will take on Wake Tech (18-11) tonight at 7:00 PM with a trip to the championship on the line.  The Eagles won both regular season contests 91-80 and 87-75.
