Volleyball Drops Conference Opener to LCC

Pitt Community College Bulldogs fall to Region X Conference rival Lenoir Community College.

The Lady Bulldogs played on the road last night, September 6, 2017 against conference rival Lenoir Community College. The match was a battle for both teams, with all 5 sets decided by 5 points or less. The Bulldogs fell in set 5 to the Lady Lancers to move to 0-1 in the conference and 2-1 overall.

The Bulldogs started slowly offensively in the first set, only to rally throughout the match with the team earning 4 aces, 45 kills, and 78 digs. The Bulldogs front line kept the team rallying point for point with the Lancers as freshman Calissa Parrott led the team in kills with 11, followed by sophomore Garrison Bowes with 10, freshman Hannah Sladick with 9, and Jordan Loreman, Kele Younger, and Alexis Bynum with 5 kills each respectively. The defense played aggressively laying out or running down any ball and came to our side, with sophomore Kele Younger collecting a team high of 21 digs.

The Bulldogs are back in action for a three game road trip this upcoming weekend playing non-conference opponent Patrick Henry Community College Friday, September 8 in Martinsville, VA. Pitt then travels to Raleigh to matchup with Walters State and Wake Tech on September 9th.
