Pitt volleyball concludes successful season

Pitt's volleyball season came to an end this weekend as they suffered an opening round loss at the hands of Walters State (TN).

The Lady Bulldogs concluded a successful campaign as their season came to an end on Saturday at Brunswick Community College. The #6 seed Bulldogs took on a strong Walters State team who was slotted in the #10 spot. Walters State would go on to win in straight sets.

PCC finished the year with an 18-10 overall record, going 8-6 conference. They were 9-3 in home matches, 4-5 on the road, and 5-2 at neutral sites.

Hannah Sladick finished the year leading the team in kills (213), points (267), and points per set (2.7).

Gabby Isaacs led the team in assists with 602 and Kele Younger led the Bulldogs with 319 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs also boasted 3 All-Region X selections:

Alexis Bynum 1st Team All-Region X

Hannah Sladick 2nd Team All-Region X

Kele Younger 2nd Team All-Region X

Coach Katelynn Speas had the following to say about the 2017 season:

"All together, the 2017 season was a successful one. The team worked hard each step of the way to get us to an 18-10 record. We faced multiple injuries to key positions, but this team battled hard to find the positive in each situation and compete. The region tournament did not end the way we wanted, but we fought hard against Walters State. I am proud of Alexis Bynum, Kele Younger, and Hannah Sladick for receiving All-Region honors. Each award is well-deserved and shows true dedication and hard work to the program and on the court."
