Bulldogs Hold Off Cecil

BALTIMORE, Md. - Vernon Simmons dropped a career high 31 points, but No. 6 Cecil fell 89-87 to Pitt on Sunday afternoon.

Simmons shot 10-for-20 from the field and sank eight of his 11 free throws. The sophomore transfer also grabbed seven rebounds. 

In a back-and-forth first half, it was the Bulldogs of Pitt who took a small lead into the break. Cecil stayed on Pitt's heels and even tied the contest on several occasions, but the Bulldogs pulled away late to keep the Seahawks winless this weekend.

Cecil drops to 0-2 with the loss.
