Jason Wood enters his seventh season with the Bulldogs, serving as Assistant Coach and Sports Information Director.  Coach Wood works with hitters and infielders, as well as coordinating recruiting and player development. 

Wood spent the previous two seasons before arriving at Pitt as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, OK. (NCAA DIV II) 

Prior to coaching at Northwestern Oklahoma State, Wood served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, NC.  In Wood’s tenure there, the Rams collected a Region X Championship and boasted two NJCAA All-Americans. 

Wood has also spent time at Louisburg College, Bacone College, D.H. Conley High School and Farmville Central High School in an assistant coach capacity.

In the summers Wood spent six years coaching in the Coastal Plain League, including stops as an assistant coach with the Forest City Owls and Gastonia Grizzlies, and two stints as a head coach with the Gastonia Grizzlies and the Morehead City Marlins.  In 2016 the Marlins made the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and set 7 franchise records.

Wood graduated from East Carolina University and attained his Master’s Degree at the California University of Pennsylvania.  He currently resides with his wife Madison and his two children Ellie and Baylor.
