Roderick Ford, a native of Goldsboro, NC, enters into his 12^th season as an Assistant Coach of Pitt Community College Men’s Basketball Program. Ford has over 27 years of coaching experience, which stems from the Division I level to the Junior College (JUCO) level and previous stints over the high school and private school levels.

Ford began his coaching career as a student assistant at Johnson C. Smith University, in Charlotte, NC. There he learned the fundamentals of what is required to be a great coach. During his time at JCSU, Ford was a well-rounded athlete, where he also ran track and played football. Coach Ford graduated from JCSU with a Bachelor’s of Arts in both English and Public Relations. Coach Ford went on to complete graduate work and complete a Master’s degree in Sports Administration at Bowie State. While he was at Bowie he was given the opportunity to work as the Head Coach for the Women’s Softball Team for 3 years. In addition, he also served as a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Football program at Bowie State. Coach Ford still managed to fit in his passion for basketball, by volunteering as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s program for 1 season. Coach Ford also spent 6 seasons at Hampton University as a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Basketball staff. He was a part of the staff that made a smooth transition from Division II to Division I basketball. Coach Ford later went on to attend UNC Chapel Hill, where he earned a second Master’s degree in Psychology and Education.

Coach Ford has also coached on the high school level, by serving as Head Coach for Goldsboro High School’s JV team and Wayne Country Day’s Basketball program. Coach For was a Volunteer Assistant Coach for Men’s Varsity Basketball and Assistant Football coach for Smithfield-Selma High School. He worked and assisted in several camps over the years, which included, Nick Camp, Kenny Smith Basketball Camp, Adidas Camp, JCSU Men’s B-B Camp, Bobby Jackson B-B Camp and Texas Camp.

When he is not serving as a coach for PCC, Coach Ford continues to make a valuable impact on youth’s lives. Coach Ford holds a full time position as a Behavioral Interventionist for Johnston County Public Schools at Selma High School, in Smithfield, NC. He is an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., which fits right along with his beliefs and values that he demonstrates on a day to day basis.
