WINTERVILLE - Pitt Community College started slow and never really hit full stride Tuesday night in a 3-0 loss to visiting Cape Fear Community College.

After losing the first set by a 25-13 count, the Bulldogs pushed the Sea Devils to the limit in set two before eventually losing the frame, 28-26. CFCC won the third set, 25-21.

Heather Lucas was a bright spot for Pitt offensively, finishing with eight kills and a .304 hitting percentage.

Anais Martinez turned in another solid defensive outing for the Bulldogs with 18 digs.

The loss to Cape Fear was PCC's second straight and third in the past four games, dropping the team to 4-7 overall, 2-5 in the Region X Conference.

Next up for Pitt is a trip to Maryland Oct. 5-6 for a tournament at Hagerstown Community College.
