BULLDOG ELITE: LONNIE CHISENHALL

A graduate of West Carteret High School, Chisenhall was drafted in the 11th round of the MLB Draft in 2006, but chose to forego the draft and attend the University of South Carolina.  After one year at South Carolina, he then transferred to Pitt for the 2007-2008 season.  His impact was felt immediately as he hit .408 with 24 doubles (Pitt single season record) and recorded 61 RBI's.

"I've never felt more challenged personally or athletically and I had so much to prove to myself and others.  Pitt was that place." - Lonnie Chisenhall

After spending one season at Pitt, Chisenhall was then drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 1st round of the 2008 MLB Draft.  Chisenhall spent 8 seasons playing for the Indians at the major league level before signing as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  During his MLB time, he was a lifetime .268 hitter, tallying 64 home runs and driving in 296 runs.  Chisenhall also was a member of the Indians team that competed in the 2016 World Series against the Chicage Cubs.

Head Coach Tommy Eason had this to say regarding Chisenhall's time at PCC: "Lonnie was a team player.  Obviously he was very good, but he was unselfish and all about his teammates.  He wanted to do whatever it took for the team to win.  In 2008 we were one win away from going to the JUCO World Series.  I think this run helped us get to the World Series in 2010 and again in 2017.  He helped build a legacy."
