BASEBALL WINS SERIES OVER CVCC

The Bulldogs came away with 2 wins this weekend over the Red Hawks of CVCC.  Pitt won game one 6-4, lost game two 12-2, and won game three 7-6 in 11 innings.

 

GAME 1

Bulldog right-hander Josh Harlow made the most out of his 1st start on the mound for the Bulldogs this weekend.  Harlow worked 5+ innings and allowed only 1 earned run.  Solid pitching opened the door for PCC to keep the game tight throughout before Jensen Lapoint roped a 3 RBI double to give the Bulldogs a 6-3 lead.  Freshman Mitchell Hofler came on in the 8th inning and closed out the game to earn the save.  Lapoint and Colby McLawhorn led PCC offensive with 2 hits each, both also added a home run.

 

GAME 2

CVCC came out on fire in game 2, scoring 12 runs on 8 hits.  PCC used four pitchers in the losing effort.  Hunter Christopher was the Bulldogs' offensive leader going 2-3.

 

GAME 3

Sophomore Matt Little turned in his best start of the season in game 3, tossing 6+ innings and allowing only 1 run.  PCC was able to mount a 6-1 lead on the back of Little's performance.  The Bulldogs were up 2-1 in the 6th when Caleb Morris blasted a solo home run to extend the lead.  Pitt then went up 6-1 when Cam Jackson hit a 2 out double and eventually scored on a Caleb Morris single.  CVCC battled back in 9th tying the game at 6-6 before stranding the go ahead run on 2nd.  Cam Jackson was able to once again come through for PCC when he hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th to score Shea Ward.  Jay McKenzie earned the win on the mound in relief.

 

The Bulldogs travel to Lousiburg Wednesday to take on the Hurricanes at 3:00 PM.
