BASEBALL DROPS ROAD CONTEST TO LOUISBURG

BASEBALL DROPS ROAD CONTEST TO LOUISBURG

Despite out hitting the Hurricanes 12 to 4, the Bulldogs were unable to hang on to a late lead, eventually losing to Louisburg 8-7.

Jack Goleski gave a strong performance on the mound, working 5 innings and surrendering only 1 run.

Pitt trailed 1-0 in the 6th inning when a Tristen Kenyon RBI single tied the game up.  A Caleb Morris double in the 7th helped push Pitt out to a 5-1 lead before Louisburg rallied back to make it 5-4 after 7 innings.  PCC tacked on two more runs to take a 7-4 into the bottom of the 9th.  With the bases loaded and 1 out, Jack Dragum hit a slow roller on the infield that was misplayed and then a throwing error on the same play allowed 3 runs to score to tie the game at 7.  The Hurricanes would go on to win on a wild pitch the next at bat.

Anthony Saieed led the way offensively for the Dawgs, going 3-5 with a double and an RBI.

Pitt travels to Florence, SC to compete in the Stinger Invitational this weekend.  On Saturday they will take on East Georgia State at 10:00 AM and Walters State at 12:30 PM.  On Sunday the Bulldogs will once again play East Georgia State beginning at 10:00 AM.
