FORMER BULLDOG PAUL GERVASE MAKES MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT

Former Bulldog Paul Gervase became the 4th former Pitt player to reach the MLB (Freddie Bynum '05, Lonnie Chisenhall '11, Jeff Ferrell '15) and debuted for the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.

Gervase worked two scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers in the Rays 8-3 victory over the weekend.

"It was the best day of my life" said Gervase.  "God has been so good to me.  I felt like I was floating out there, and I was just happy I could go out there and put up two zeroes and help the team win."

Gervase pitched for Pitt in 2021 before moving on to LSU and pitching for the Tigers in 2022.  He was drafted by the Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 Draft and then traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in 2024.
