SOFTBALL CLAIMS REGULAR SEASON CROWN

Pitt hosted Louisburg this weekend in a pivotal series that would ultimately decide this year's Region 10 Regular Season Champion.  The Bulldogs came away victorious in all three contests by scores of 5-4, 3-1, and 4-2.

GAME 1

PITT 5

LOUISBURG 4

The Hurricanes plated 4 runs off of PCC starter Emily McGee to take the lead early.  The Bulldogs answered in the 4th inning when back to back walks set the stage for Roslyn Bunch who delivered an RBI single to push across the first PCC run of the game.  Pitt tacked on 2 more runs in the 4th and took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 5th when Breanna Hardee drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Roslyn Bunch once again delivered with a go-ahead RBI single.

GAME 2

PITT 3

LOUISBURG 1

Janna Dawson turned in an outstanding pitching performance in game 2, tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 5.  The Bulldog offense got all it would need when Meghan Pullicino blasted a 2 run homer in the 2nd inning.  Meghan Moore also sparked the offense going 2 for 3 on the day.

GAME 3

PITT 4

LOUISBURG 2

PCC used a 4 run 3rd inning capped off by a Hailey Jenkins 2 RBI double to jump out to an early lead.  Emily McGee and Rebekah Williams combined in the circle to limit the Hurricanes to just 2 runs.
