SOFTBALL GOES 1-2 TO START THE WEEK

MONDAY

USC UNION 8 PITT 6

Janna Dawson started the game in the circle allowing 3 runs in 2 innings of work.  She was relieved in the 3rd by Rebekah Williams who surrendered 5 runs over 4 innings.  Pitt was able to tie the game 3-3 in the 5th before USC Union pushed across 4 runs in the bottom half leading them to victory.  Julia Gonzalez led the Bulldogs offensively going 3 for 3.  Kelsey Peedin, Baylee Mozingo, and Breanna Hardee all added 2 hits each.

TUESDAY GAME 1

SPARTANBURG METHODIST 6 PITT 1

SMC got to Pitt starter Janna Dawson early, scoring 5 runs in the first two innings.  The Bulldogs were only able to scratch across 1 run in the contest on a fielder's choice.  Rosyln Bunch led the offense going 2 for 3.

GAME 2

PITT 5 SPARTANBURG METHODIST 4

The Bulldogs were able to bounce back in game 2 on Tuesday, holding off a late SMC rally to earn the 5-4 victory.  Emily McGee earned the complete game victory, tossing 7 innings and allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 2.  Pitt scored a run in the first off of a passed ball and added another in the second coming by way of an error.  A sacrifice fly and a single by Rosyln Bunch plated 3 more runs in the 3rd, making it 3-0 PCC.  USC Union chipped away but the Bulldogs held on for a 5-4 victory.  Emily Mcgee and Meghan Pullicino each collected 3 hits in the win.
