SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM SURRY

Pitt was able to defeat both Surry CC and the weather on Friday.  The Bulldogs captured both victories just before the rain came down by scores of 9-1 and 12-4.

GAME 1

PITT 9  SURRY 1

Julia Gonzalez stole the show in the first game, tallying 3 hits and knocking in 5 of the Bulldogs 9 runs.  PCC jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and extended the lead to 7-0 heading into the sixth.  Surry was able to push across a run in top half of the sixth before Pitt pushed across 2 of their own in bottom frame, giving the Bulldogs a 9-1 victory by run rule.  Janna Dawson earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete game and allowing only 3 hits while striking out 4 in 6 innings of work.

GAME 2

PITT 12  SURRY 4

In the second game of the day, Surry raced out to a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth before the Bulldogs answered with 3 runs of their own, taking a 4-3 lead.  The Bulldog offense then exploded for 8 runs over the next two innings to take home a 12-4 victory.  Rebekah Williams tossed 4 innings for the Dawgs and Emily McGee saw two innings of work.  Julia Gonzalez continued her great day recording 3 more RBI's (giving her 8 on the day) and Roslyn Bunch tacked on 3 RBI's of her own.

The final game of the series is set for tomorrow at noon.
