Sandhills Hands PCC Second Loss of the Season

WINTERVILLE--Despite 26 points from Josh Cox and 21 from Alfonzo Josey, Pitt Community College fell to visiting Sandhills Community College, 106-91, for the team's second loss of the season.

Poor shooting from the field and free-throw line put the Bulldogs in an early hole from which they never could recover as the Flyers built a 20-point lead by the 7:34 mark of the first half. Sandhills eventually took a 51-31 advantage into the break.

Though PCC outscored Sandhills 60-55 over the final 20 minutes of play, the Bulldogs never could dig themselves out of their halftime deficit in falling to 4-2 overall this season.

Romone Adderley scored 14 for the Bulldogs, who shot just 17.6 percent (3-for-17) from behind the 3-point line as a team for the game.

Tevin Stark led the Flyers with 20 points. Craig McDaniel added 17 more on a pair of field goals and a 13-for-17 effort from the free-throw line, and Kenneth Walters came off the bench to score 15.
