Bulldogs Go 0-2 in Daytona State College Tournament

DAYTONA, Fla.—Pitt Community College won two straight games to close out 2014 before starting the new year with two straight losses in a tournament hosted by Daytona State College Jan. 2-3.

In game one for the Bulldogs, Jarrel Marshall led all scorers with 31 points to power Palm Beach State College to a 101-65 victory.

Four players finished in double figures scoring for the Panthers, who took a 46-28 lead into halftime and never looked back.

For the game, Palm Beach State shot 53 percent from the field, including 39 percent from 3-point range (11-of-28), and 72 percent from the foul line (18-of-25) to improve to 14-3 overall this season.

Alfonzo Josey led PCC offensively with 13 points while Josh Cox added 12 more and nine rebounds.

Game two was closer for Pitt, but the result was the same, as Daytona State College extended an 11-point halftime advantage to 24 by game's end to capture an 85-61 victory.

Wesley Alcegaire went 6-of-11 from the floor (with three 3-pointers) and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line for a game-high 20 points for the Falcons.

Cox countered with 15 points for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 6-6 overall.
