Wytheville's Kirchman Scores 32 but Bulldogs Prevail

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College and Wytheville Community College battled back-and-forth for 40 minutes before the host Bulldogs ultimately emerged with a 98-97 win in the 1st Annual Charles Coburn Classic.

Trailing 47-45 at halftime, PCC roared out of the locker room to go up 10 before the Wildcats put together a barrage of 3-pointers to go back on top. In the end, PCC Coach Darrick Mullins said his squad was able to finally pull itself together on the defensive end of the floor to pull out a hard-fought victory and go 2-0 on the new season.

Josh Cox led Pitt offensively with 20 points and nine rebounds. Michael Williams tossed in 15 points to go along with eight boards, and Kendall Ham scored 13 and finished with three assists.

Christian Kirchman led all scorers for Wytheville with 32 points. Tyrell Jones came off the bench to score 22 for the Wildcats.
