WINTERVILLE—If there was any question about whether Pitt Community College would extend its current winning streak Monday night, it was answered shortly after tip-off.
The Bulldogs, playing aggressive defense from the start, jumped out to an early lead on Mid-Atlantic Christian University and never looked back in running their record to 17-8 overall this season.
The 95-54 non-conference win over the Mustangs was PCC's eighth straight. The 'Dawgs will look to make it nine in a row Thursday night at Vance-Granville Community College.
The last time the Bulldogs lost was Jan. 21, against Richard Bland College. Pitt will have a chance to avenge that defeat on Saturday, when the Statesmen visit the Charles Coburn Center at 3 p.m.
Against MACU, PCC built a 43-26 lead by halftime and continued to score easy buckets in transition to seal the win.
Michael Williams went 8-for-11 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line to finish with 21 points for the Bulldogs. Romone Adderley tacked on 18 more on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with six assists, and Josh Cox tallied 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
As a team, PCC shot 59.4 percent (38-for-64) from the field for the game, including 45 percent (9-for-20) from 3-point range. The Bulldogs finished with 12 steals against the Mustangs.
