Bulldogs Win a Nail-Biter over Vance-Granville

HENDERSON—It went down to the wire, but Pitt Community College ultimately ran its winning streak to nine games Thursday with a 74-70 victory over Vance-Granville Community College.

Pitt came out of the gates flat on the offensive side of the court but still managed to take a two-point lead into halftime at 35-33. In the end, though, it was the Bulldogs' full-court press that kept the Vanguards at bay and lifted the team to an 18-8 overall mark, 13-4 in the Region X Conference.

Alfonzo Josey led all scorers with 21 points for PCC. Teammate Michael Williams finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Romone Adderley tallied 17 points and five assists.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well, as Pitt went 26-for-73 (35.6 percent) on the night and VGCC finished 26-for-67 (38.8 percent).

Free throws played a deciding role in the Bulldogs' nail-biting win. PCC knocked down 14-of-21 from the line, while the Vanguards went 12-for-23.
